WiFi's so densely packed in Manhattan that I don't give Hyperwrt a fair
shakeout.  I keep the radios off (!) most of the time, and mostly use only
MAC filtering, with WEP 64 occasionally turned on.  Things are just too
flakey otherwise with *any* hardware.  11N is gonna be a hoot here. 
HyperWrt has been noticably more solid than the stock firmware for this
basic usage, and the range is sure better with a slight power boost.
