That's precisely why I wrote that into my message.  Fran and his boss,
George W. Trendle had an enormous influence on my life and as far as I
know, I'm still a member of The Lone Ranger's Club.  Have been since I was
8.  Another fellow who influenced me was Al Capp.  His occasional
production of the Fearless Fosdick comic strip had me in tears from
laughter.  Li'l Abner wasn't bad either.

Still on TV.  I don't know about the 30s either, but it should be easy
enough to research.  Most people had radios back then.
