Hi Donna. How's summer so far? We haven't been out camping yet, so I
haven't dug out the "travel box". Will keep you posted, though. I
haven't forgotten you request.
A month or so back, when we were talking about read-alouds, you sounded
ecstatic about James and the Giant Peach coming out as a movie. Did you
get out to see it? My daughter like the book much better. My nieces
(who have liberal TV, VCR time and don't particularly like to read)
liked the movie better. I didn't see it. What did you think?
I hear another of Roald Dahl's books will be coming to a theater near
you. Matilda! I can't wait for that one. I wonder who will be the
Trunchbull? I think Kathy Bates would be perfect for her!
We stumbled across another read aloud at the library. My daughter
picked it up and decided she could read it. (She was a little too
ambitious!) Babe, the Gallant Pig. The book has won awards in England
and has been out since the mid '80s. And, of course, it is the book
upon which the movie Babe was based. So far, the movie has been true to
the story.
It appears we are avid movie watchers. It's not true. The last theater
movie I saw was Lion King. We do rent or borrow family movies several
times a month.
Speaking of borrowing, did the ever see The Borrowers? It is an
English version with Richard Lewis doing the intermissions. Quite
good!
Have a great summer! I do hope you make a decision regarding
homeschooling soon.
