If you read my post, the source is clear and the changes needed are
trivial. The problem is he cant get a working compile from source set up.

I am not clear as to whetrher he downloaded source from e.g. github or
downloaded the package source. If the latter it OUGHT to compile and
pull in the right dependencies.

But its abeen a long time since I compiled a package from distro source.
Cant even remember how its done.
