Procter & Gamble posts higher profit (Reuters)
Reuters - Procter & Gamble Co. , the maker of Crest toothpaste and Tide
laundry detergent, posted a 4 percent rise in quarterly profit on
Tuesday, as strong sales of health and beauty items offset rising raw
material costs and the impact of hurricanes on its coffee business.
Colgate profit up on oral-care sales (Reuters)
Reuters - Colgate-Palmolive Co. , the maker of its namesake toothpaste
and other consumer products, posted higher quarterly profit on Tuesday,
helped by the first overall rise in prices in two years and strong
oral-care sales.
Lockheed eyes Computer Sciences bid: WSJ (Reuters)
Reuters - Lockheed Martin Corp. and three private-equity firms are
considering offering $64-$65 a share for Computer Sciences Corp. ,
valuing it at about $12 billion, the Wall Street Journal reported on
Tuesday.
Viacom posts profit on cable advertising (Reuters)
Reuters - Media conglomerate Viacom Inc. (VIAb.N) on Tuesday reported a
third-quarter profit as higher advertising sales at its MTV cable
networks and the "War of the Worlds" box-office release offset a slump

Reuters - U.S. stock futures pointed to a slightly lower market opening
on Tuesday, with investors bracing for another interest-rate hike from

Exports boost euro zone October PMI (Reuters)
Reuters - The euro zone's manufacturing sector expanded at its fastest
pace in over a year in October, a survey of 3,000 companies showed on
Tuesday, strengthening the case for a hike in interest rates next month
or in early 2006.

700 jobs under a cost-saving program and posted higher first-half
earnings despite rising utility bills and slowing passenger growth.
