Have you heard of Madira? A fabric store owner told me that this
     was good thread too.
 One thing with it, you

I will have to remember that. I will be using metallic thread for
     my tree skirt quilting.
Using Sewer's Aid helps too. I have been

I haven't heard of this before. But then I am not using different
threads like the rayons. Does this help to keep the thread from
     fraying and breaking?

Yes she probably will. Though she is only 6, we have already made
a skirt together. I helped her to hold the fabric as she sewed the
seams. She was proud of her skirt. :) So quilting will come
naturally. She can help sew some of her blocks with my help.
