subject: Old PC bits

This is a begging letter.

My son attends a government primary school which has recently received a
donation of a few old pre-Windows PCs. The opportunity is now being
taken to introduce the children to the world of IBM-compatible, rather
than Apple-IIe etc.

What the school mainly lacks right now is suitable licensed software.
Software which would be useful includes MS-DOS (V3.3 or higher), MS
Works for DOS (V3 preferred), and anything else which could assist small
children to prepare for the great big world of computing.

Naturally, the school can only accept legal software. If you have
superfluous software (especially the MS-DOS OS - those of you who have
moved to OS/2 for example?), the school would be most grateful to
receive the disks and manuals.

The PCs donated will be immensely useful, but there are only a few of
these, and more would be useful, as would additional hardware.

If you have an old IBM-type PC (XT or better), or an old monitor (mono
or Herc, even CGA would be of use) or other peripheral that is just
gathering dust, call me. Printers are highly desirable - doesn't matter
what they are - standard or wide-carriage, dot-matrix or other - we will
find drivers to suit so the kids can actually see and take home their
work.

If you can help, contact me here by Fidonet, or on Internet to:

If you don't have modem access, voice me on (06) 248 0781.

Wouldn't YOU like to help create the "clever country"?
