I'm sure that here, like anywhere, there are some people who abuse it, and
I'd say virtually everyone, including me, does use it for some personal
chit-chat (ready for lunch?  did you hear about....? etc...).  But the
majority of people just see it as another tool like e-mail and the phone.
Even for the people who abuse it, at least they're staying at their desks
and not standing in the aisle bothering multiple people by talking and
joking.  I think the novelty around here, at least, has worn off.
