That's correct. The RLogin protocol only allows the client to pass 3 strings/fields to the server upon connection:
  * client-user-name
  * server-user-name
  * terminal-type/speed

Synchronet's stock logon.js checks the rlogin "terminal-type/speed" field for the token "xtrn=" and if preset (and configured/enabled), will execute the external program corresponding with "". As documented here:
