Then you are corrupting the original writer's time and time zone.
I write this now at sunday 23rd sept.2018 15:15 (UTC/GMT+02:00) in Arnhem.NL
at UniCornBBS 2:280/1208.0 in Europe which get send by POTS to my FidoNet
UpLink 2:280/5003.0 at monday morning 24th spt. 2018 07:45 (UTC/GMT+02:00).
It will then arrive by TCP/IP at the the "soupgate" BBS in New Zealand about
17:50 (UTC/GMT+12:00) I suppose.
Then why change the time of my send out original BBS message to the NZ local
time when it is sent to the comp.sys.raspberrypi newsgroup?
Because then you are filtering away the traveltime of the message.
I donot think that is the right way to handle times at the gateway.
Henri.
