        Since 1994 ...                                 H I S T O R Y !

        MetroNet began as a small 3-4 board network in south-western
        Pennsylvania, USA in 1994.  This startup included The Phantom
        BBS, The Titantic BBS, and Starfleet Multiline TBBS.  FidoNet
        was a costly option back then, not only for the phone tolls,
        but also most hubs made you pay monthly for a feed. We wanted
        a fun Fido-Style nework of our own that would be loca, and
        best of all, be FREE.

        As the users and SysOps started to like what they saw, more
        and more systems joined the network.  We quickly grew to
        around 63 boards through-out Pennslvania and a few western
        states.  This was unheard f at the time unless it was
        FidoNet.  Many networks tried to emulate MetroNet in the
        local area during the 1990s, but they all have come and gone.
        MetroNet has stood the test of time and is still here to
        prove it's worth.

        Slowly, but surely, 1997 came around and BBSes were shutting
        down.  The network was shrinking.  For the few boards that
        were left, the conversation was still good, but not like it
        once was.  The network idled off and on for the next few
        years and was rebranded the new home network of The Renegade
        BBS Software in 2003 once the Renegade source code was passed
        down to McMillen.  This was in hopes to re-jump start the
        network and bring in more and new conversations as well as
        Renegade BBS support that was lacking elsewhere.

        As of 2022, the network is once again growing.  We are always
        looking for new nodes and hubs to carry on the network to
        others in the world.

        Re-additions of Legend of the Red Dragon and Barren Realms
        Elite Door games for InterBBS Play on MetroNet has also
        brought some new users into the fold.

        LORD is played InterBBS via InterLORD (Which is no Freeware).
