Heavily routed environment. Most of the time, when a workstation hangs and
the user performs a reboot, the workstation connects to the file server
without problem.
When trying anything to a particular type file (archived), the workstation
will hang. A reboot does not clear the connection. The user must wait till
the server clears the connection (5 minutes or so) before a connect request
to the server is successful.
The question is is this the way watchdog is suspose to work? Ie. when the
workstation boots it is assigned the same connection by the server as it
currently has active. The server will deny the connection request till it
has cleared the connection that's hung.
Suggestions on how to fix this. I know, get rid of the archived files.
We're trying, but it will take time. ANyone know of a way, (other than the
workaround posted by Novell to force the workstation to use a different mac
address) that the workstation can connect to the server using a different
connection?
