Actually, take a look at this information I saved from the "Unofficial Zoom
Modem FAQ". It appear's Zoom's K56PLUS model's will have Flashrom, and as
mentioned below, it's rumoured the datapump can be flashed as well. I hope
the rumour is true, because if it is, then I may just upgrade my Zoom V.34I+
33.6
**K56PLUS models to be released! **
Zoom claims that K56PLUS models will be available in the middle week of
pril.
In the March 16th Compusa advertisement, they had Zoom's K56PLUS internal
modem for $149. The modem has FlashROM for easy updates which Zoom thinks
(and hopes) will include upgrades to the yet to be determined 56Kbps
tandard.
Strong rumour has it that the datapump can be flashed too (not just fixed
function) which would accomodate such an upgrade. More on that when more
information is officially released. The modem is also Plug n' Play. Of course
it has Zoom's "Zoom Guard" superior surge protection. More information as it
is available. Please tell me if you have anything to add.
Zoom now has a page on their website with links to: Product info, software
modem updates when available, a K56PLUS FAQ and ways to contact Zoom for
support. The URL is:
