No I wasn't. All of this moderator stuff happened before Frank had telnet
access to CCS or I would have been here. He and I were virtual friends and he
helped me learn a lot about Fidonet but I didn't involve him in the echo matter
because I had contacted Thom directly (just couldn't remember his name when I
first started posting in here about what happened) and asked him to contact the
person who was automagically updating the echo at the request of Elvis H. I
came to CCS the day after Frank told me he had working telnet access. I was
dialing up Commport which is local to me and telnetting from there to CCS until
my old WIN 3.1 that I got in 1993 finally crashed in spring of 2004. LOL. And
everything about the Doghouse Echo stuff happened before I could even telnet to
CCS. So, figuring backwards, since I got the internet in spring of 2004 when I
got this XP computer, and I was telnetting here from Commport with WIN 3.1 PC
for at least 3 years I think, maybe more, and it seems to be that I was on the
old BBS I used for 2 or 3 years after I contacted Thom about Doghouse Echo
having no traffic... so my guess is this all happened in 1998 or 1999.
From 1993 when I got my WIN 3.1 and started BBS'ing I dialed up local boards
and went other places by telnet. Then through echo chats I found a great BBS
in Florida which went down in 2000 I think and telnetted there from Commport
here because it had the whole Fido backbone and connection to internet
newsgroups by the sysop paying for server access and bringing in requested
newsgroups for his users and in exchange those of us who wanted to read
Internet newsgroups paid a nominal subscription to the otherwise totally free
BBS.
