Subj: a new mailer, sorta, it's kinda old actually
Now that there are fewer sysops around, I might actually get around to
releasing my front end mailer. It's been a hobby for quite a few years. Okay,
seven or so.
Anyway, it's probably more like Bink than other mailers in some respects, in
that it has text config files, uses almost identical outbound structures, and
supports v6 (even large) and v7 nodelists.
It ain't "purdy" like Fd, but it is snappy (fast), and even ran pretty much
for
a year and a half, unnatended, while I was away in England. It also supports
some "front end mailer" features that you won't find elsewhere, like scalable
outbound timers, and the like. You can safely use it in large, or multinode
situations.
Anyway, if anyone is out there, and kinda bored because they haven't fixed
what
ain't broke in a while, gimme a shout. I'll either send it direct, tell you
where to freq it, or post an URL. It's currently available as:
mmail1i3.zip (MelMail v1.00i3) from 1:163/207
features.mm (text file, about 30k) from 1:163/207
ftp://adcn.on.ca/public/win-32 (not the latest, but close)
http://www.carleton.ca/~jdubois (not the latest, but close)
I update it every week or so, so you can consider it "active".
Not sure why anyone would wanna bother, but, it does do mail quite nicely.
One last caveat: it has only thus far been tested in North America, so I have
little clue what other continents might want. Feedback will be acted upon in
short notice, though.
Cheers,
Mel
