I don't know about that, it was before my FTSC time. What I do know is that the
PING flag was introduced in the Z2 nodelist on 26 March 2001. (As documented in
the ERRFLAGS history) My guess is that the paragraph in FTS-5001 was just
copied from the Z2 nodelist epilog. It is almost the same except for the part
that the sender must never be "Ping".

But as I said, that's just a guess.
