I think 'chaff' is the garbage; 'chuff', depending on the context, has a 
variety of meanings, some of them almost diametrically opposite (rather like 
'quite' - compare "Did you like it?" "It was quite
good" with "Did you like 
it?" "It was quite excellent"). Tony Hancock, in particular,
used it to mean 
unhappy; latterly it's become more upbeat, as you say.

I think (I *hope*) you won't be disappointed. My just coming across them 
like that in a park was one of those happy chances.

I now recall that one of the tracks is almost like a tutorial in how it's 
done; you can hear the overtones breaking in as the mouth and tongue change 
shape. Fascinating. The intersection of science with an offbeat branch of 
music.

*And* we discover the correct pronunciation of Ghengis - it's spelt 
Dzhenggis (given in Cyrillic as Чингис), [1] so the G is soft, not hard.
