| subject: | The TARDIS and languages |
Sooo... it has been explained that the TARDIS, along with helping vaccinate against local airborne viruses I suppose, also helps the travelers to speak the local languages. Yes, it was explained once that the TARDIS keeps a telepathic link to the TARDIS crew and translates local dialogue so that the crew members can converse with local people. Now if this is true, what happens, pray tell, when the Doctor leaves someone behind? Take for example "The Myth Makers" that I just saw where Vicki decides to stay with a certain Troyian hunk in ancient Greecian times. When the TARDIS dematerilized and the TARDIS was out of range, did Vicki find herself saying, "So, now we have each other, and I say we fglkhj doewron dlnjewr dsflkhjds ljffewe twerlpjwr..." :) Have they every established that the TARDIS only translates, or does it impress the local language in the minds of the crew should the TARDIS be out of range? . .
