Software doesn't need to be open-source to have backups, obi-wan.

That will never happen. IREX is abandonware for good. There is simply no 
incentive anymore to rewrite it from scratch. As far as I know there is not 
even an API or published database-record format, so writing a "clone" that 
will work with everyone's existing configuration files is almost impossible.
