I wasn't talking about geosynchronus sats, I was talking about those that
have probed the various planets and their moons.

It's not a frequency change, it's a polarization change...That's why
you'll see different looking antennas which are capable of switching from
one polarization to the other. Circularly polarzed antennas work best for
amateur sat work.
