You can't get anything but real Mexican food in a Mexican restaurant. But
Roger is probably more used to Cajon style food, which isn't Mexican.

Try Miramar Cafe's, Huevos Rancheros...they're to die for. Miramar Cafe
used to be owned by a Greek lady, but she sold it to a mixed Mexican/White
couple. They still have the Greek food. They sold it to a Mexican lady who
has fancied up the place and serves only American and Mexican dishes.

What we have here is called Tex-Mex and it's almost as good, but slightly
different. Miramar uses two corn tortillas under the eggs so the dish
doesn't draw the heat from the eggs. Here you get the eggs on the plate.
Miramars' refried beans are made from scratch and are the best I've ever
had. Here, you get something akin to Taco Bell refrieds, but better. They
also put papas (potatoes) on the plate instead of Mexican rice. Miramar
gives you two burrito sized tortillas for cleaning up the plate, while
they only give you taco sized tortillas here. Miramars' ranchero sauce is
the best as well. The Tex-Mex rancher sauce varies from place to place, so
you have to try out the restaurants in town until you find your taste.

It's almost worth the trip to go back to San Diego for another plate at
Miramar Cafe. Maybe another to go.
