I like this advice, thank you very much. That's what I'm going to tell
him.
The HVAC (yes, I have electric) is already on its own circuit, and the only
big thing in the house that decides for itself when to use electricity is
the refrigerator, which is definitely not on the same circuit as the
computer equipment.
