Nice thing about a digital signal...it doesn't need to get through 100%,
as the signal can be put back together at the receiving station from
perhaps 60% of the info transmitted and received.
I noticed this when I first hooked my HDTV to an antenna and was getting a
weak signal from the broadcast station. The picture on the screen had
holes in it that were soon made up by the receiver 'fixing' the signal
received. Meanwhile, I was getting most of the picture and all of the
sound. An analog signal would have lots of snow on the screen and the
sound would be wavering in and out, received from the same broadcast
station location. The best part is that the station was in the lower TV
broadcast band, while the HD signal was over UHF. The shorter UHF
wavelength was getting through while the VHF wavelength was not.
