WC> WC> WC>The other BS you spewed ignored.

WC> WC> WC>You *really* are delusional if you think your knowledge of
WC> WC> WC>remote events is superior to one who witnessed them.

WC> WC> WC>And you make these claims often.

WC> WC> JB> Is it your VIsa debit card or a government issued one for
WC> WC> JB> your public stipend ?

WC> WC>Mine, dating back to when automated teller machines first
WC> WC>appeared on the scene.

WC> JB> Not true. Debit cards came long after the first ATM appeared.
WC> JB> They came long after the first credit card appeared.

WC>Now what point would there be to an ATM without the debit card???
WC>As to being generally available at retail outlets thats another
WC>matter. Mine became so active once it was branded VISA years ago.

A debit card is what you take to the store to do point of sale (POS)
transactions to buy things. What was originally issued was an ATM card
that allowed you to withdraw money at an ATM and use the ATM machine but
only credit cards were issued for POS usage. The time difference here
was only a few years between ATM and debit cards for checking accounts.
The time difference between normal checking account debit cards, which
could be used for POS transactions, and Visa debit cards (which carry
the Visa logo) was much longer.

There was, until more recently, a complete separation between the credit
cards (i.e Visa/Mastercard) and checking/savings deposit accounts
(DDA/TDA), systems and back-end processing. Visa didn't authorize the
Visa debit cards until the late 90s.

WC> WC>Since that time my bank has changed hands four times
WC> WC>and only the last bank uses the Visa credit - debit option
WC> WC>but only to the limit of available funds in that account.

WC> JB> That is what a debit card is. Some have overdraft protection.

WC>Not here.
WC>SSDI regulations stipulate only one bank acount as well.

Of course.

WC> WC>I've maintained a continuous checking account since the early
WC> WC>70's although each of my banks has been bought out by others
WC> WC>until what is now my current bank.

WC> JB> Congratulations. Which bank is yours ?

WC>Not a chance.

I personally really don't care. My interest was purely based upon your
comments about mergers and acquisitions in the banking sector, which I
have worked for 20+ years. I am guessing that you were more recently a
Wachovia customer and soon to be a Wells Fargo customer. I am guessing,
solely based upon where you live.
