Hi Christi,
CW> Hello Holly,
CW> Are you a tatter? That is one of my new years resolutions is to learn
CW> how to tat with a bobbin. I know a little about needle weaving but
CW> nothing about tatting.
I know very little about needle weaving but I did take a short course on
bobin tatting. I've been doing a little just to keep from forgetting
everything I've learned. I find it very slow to get any amount of tatting
done, so patience is definintely needed for this craft.
Dee Stark also tats some. I haven't heard from Dee in a long time so I'm not
sure she is even on the echos.
I have a couple of excellent tatting books thanks to Susan Barrington.
The complete book of tatting by Rebecca Jones. It is really good. It has all
the directions and pictures for how to do all the types of knots. Then has a
series of projects from making lace to dollies to wearables.
A New Twist on Tatting, more than 100 glorious designs by Catherine Austin.
This is full of beautiful handcrafted items. It too has a few pages on basic
tatting stitches with pictures.
If you get a chance to take a class, do! Getting a "handle" on how to turn
the thread to make the knot is very tricky.
Good luck. I'm not sure I could answer to many questions about any problems
you might encounter but I'd be willing to try.
Gail
