     Hi Teresa!
Still haven't gotten to my tree skirt yet. Gotta find some large
pieces of paper with squares to enlarge the pattern.
The way you are sewing on the binding should be quite secure.
And using a decorative stitch makes it a bit fancier than a
straight stitch. I've always been leery (sp?) about machine
stitching binding for the reason of missing some on one side.
Using the decorative stitch would solve this - more coverage.
TH I am using a rayon burgundy color thread and a christmas
TH> green binding. Both pick up colors from the tree skirt itself.
I think this is a nice combination. Do you use a lot of rayon
threads in your decorative sewing? That's something I should
try or take a course in machine embroidery.
This week I will be working on a quillow that I started last
year. I had to piece the backing on the pillow part as I ran
out of fabric. I decided to use a quilt block and add borders
for the back and the pillow panel for the front.
     ttyl Shauna
P.S. Got your star block - very pretty. Danielle really likes it.
