If you compare the cost of modems with FAX vs those without FAX, you can see
that the cost is $0-$5. The vast majority of features share the same
hardware.
Would you build separate TV sets that didn't get channel 7, just because some
people don't like watching the shows on channel 7?

*NO ONE*? Tell that to the millions of FAXes that move around the globe each
day. If you don't need to send or receive FAXes, then don't. But you'll
never get companies to re-design existing modems just to *REMOVE* a feature
that they already have built into them.
