Concerning _Pro-43 full coverage_, Andrew Porrett said to Scott Christensen
in SCANRADIO:
 AP> - find a cell-restored '43
 AP>
 AP> - on logic board, solder a diode between the D1 anode pad
 AP> and the D5 cathode pad (use same orientation as existing diodes)
I take it you've actually tried this?
 AP> on RF board,
 AP>
 AP> - remove L101
 AP>
 AP> - add static protection between antenna input and ground
 AP> (either a resistor (10K), or two diodes)
 AP>
 AP> - bypass 30 - 54 MHz bandpass filter
 AP> (solder jumper between input of C134 and output of L117)
A mod I downloaded somewhere says to do the following. Comments?
Steps to enhance the HF receive sensitivity.
     - Remove L101
     - Add the following circuit
                           Cx1    Lx1
              Point 1 oÄÄÂÄ)|ÄÂÄÄ@@@@@@@ÄÄÄÄo Point 2
                         ³    ³             ³
                         ÀÄ)|ÄÙ             À)|ÄÄÄÄÄ¿
                           Cx2               Cx3   GND
          Cx1 = .01uF Cap
          Cx2 = .01uF Cap
          Lx1 = inductor (use L101 if not broken) I used an inductor from
a
                Radio Shack Bulk part assortment 273-1601
          Cx3 = .047 pF Cap (Approximately)
          Point 1 = Juntion L101 & C101 & Ant connection
          Point 2 = Juntion L117 & C205 & R135
 AP> (most searches only work when the scanner is searching UP,
 AP> so go below the CB frequencies and then search up through
 AP> them, and remember to set AM/FM mode as required)
How good is CB reception? That's around 27 MHz, right? Need a special
antenna, or will the average wide band (30-1300 MHz) work all right?
 AP> He brought his over, and now he has full coverage as well as
 AP> latching LED backlights. I think he's found his nirvana...
Latching LED backlights? What's this, exactly?
... All rising to a great place is by a winding stair.
