Well, at the risk of being accused of undermining what's left of FidoNet (I
think the traffic level on this echo and most others speaks for itself), I
would like to extend the following invitation to those of you who are still
here and can behave yourselves (I have no idea who's lurking. . .)

I don't know about you, but I sure miss the old cameraderie and the
discussions we used to have in the "glory days" of the echoes
when there were no troublemakers around to spoil things.

As a result, I've started an email list on Yahoo! Groups called
Fido-Aviation, and I'd love to have you join us.  To join this new list,
please click on the web address toward the bottom of this invitation and
select the group membership.  Or, you may send email to
Fido-Aviation-subscribe{at}yahoogroups.com (be sure to include your real name
in your email so that I can connect it with your email address). 
Membership in the list is currently by invitation only, for those who were
participants in the FLYING and AVIATION echoes and for those who have been
recommended by an existing list member.  My goal is to reestablish the
friendly forum and atmosphere we had on FidoNet while keeping out
troublemakers (those of us who've been here a while know at least one
notorious example who shall remain nameless).

In an effort to keep out such troublemakers, posting, file access, and
archive access are restricted to members only, and the list is NOT in the
Yahoo! Groups directory.  The rules are pretty much the same basic,
common-courtesy ones we've had on FidoNet, but as long as we don't have any
problems, I don't see any reason to be hard-nosed with them.  The rules
file can be found in the files section, and they are also sent to new
members as soon as they subscribe. In addition, the rules will be posted to
the list once per month.

If you have email addresses of any other well-behaved participants of the
FLYING and AVIATION echoes, please forward them to me, and I'd be glad to
send them an invitation to join us also.  The list is already active and
growing, with a lot of familiar names, as well as a few new ones.
