    Wal-Mart sees same-store sales up (Reuters)

Reuters - Wal-Mart Stores Inc.  on Saturday estimated that September
 sales rose 3.8 percent at U.S. stores open at least a year, near the
 high end of its forecast range, in a month that saw stores shut down
 due to two hurricanes.

    Gulf fisheries see slow recovery (Reuters)

Reuters - The fishermen whose shrimp and oyster boats survived Hurricane
 Katrina consider themselves the fortunate few, but now they wonder how
 they will survive in an industry gutted by the powerful storm.

    Mittal Steel eyes expansion in India, Turkey (Reuters)

Reuters - Mittal Steel Co.  , the world's top steel maker, expects
 shortly to sign a deal to build a large plant in eastern India, its
 chief operating officer said on Sunday, after the company said it may
 raise up to $3 billion to fund expansion.

    Strike begins at Falconbridge division (Reuters)

Reuters - Falconbridge Ltd. (FALlv.TO) said a strike by 615 workers
 began at its Kidd Creek division on Saturday after the company and
 union failed to agree on terms of a new labor contract.

    Stocks rise, 3rd quarter is best for 2005 (Reuters)

Reuters - U.S. stocks ended slightly higher on Friday, helping to push
 indexes to their best quarterly finish for 2005, as a dip in crude oil
 prices lifted shares of companies that are heavy users of fuel,
 including Caterpillar Inc.  and DuPont Co. .

    Consumer spending falls, inflation rises (Reuters)

Reuters - U.S. August consumer spending and income fell, partly due to
 Hurricane Katrina, and inflation edged up amid record oil prices,
 bolstering expectations the Federal Reserve will keep raising interest
 rates.
