Message-ID: http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Wrestling/2004/04/04/408716.html The Rock lovin' Hollywood By LOUIS B. HOBSON -- Calgary Sun HOLLYWOOD -- Now that he has a rock-solid acting career, Dwayne Johnson can afford to take some chances. Johnson has parlayed his wrestling persona The Rock into The Scorpion King, The Rundown and now the new action flick Walking Tall. He's just completed a role in Be Cool opposite John Travolta, Uma Thurman and Danny DeVito. "It's a great role because it allows me to be a bit self-deprecating and I love that," says Johnson. "I play this bodyguard named Elliot who's a bit of a villain. He wants desperately to break into movies, but his only talent is his ability to move each eyebrow separately. "People will get the joke pretty quickly." There's another part to the joke as Johnson slyly reveals. "By the way, did I mention that Elliot is gay?" He's quick to explain he has no problems playing any sexual orientation. "I have a guy who is a real father figure and an important mentor who's gay. I'm proud of him. "I'm also cool with the fact I have many gay fans." His gay fans are far outnumbered by his female fans, who consider The Rock a real sex symbol. "That whole sex symbol thing is too weird. I don't see myself that way at all. My breath stinks like everyone else's in the morning. "I'm not special. I think it's my persona women react to. Not me, because they don't know me." Johnson has already signed to star in the action adventure Spy Hunter and a special effects comedy called Instant Karma. He insists he's looking for lighter fare and even a romantic comedy. "Halle Berry doesn't know it yet, but she and I will be doing a romantic comedy soon. You see, The Rock has the same kind of fantasies as everyone else." --- Internet Rex 2.29* Origin: The gateway at Swills (1:555/5555) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 555/5555 229/3000 123/500 106/2000 633/267 |
