It seems to me that Fido has come full circle, with a bit of added
technology. IIRC, Fido started with a bunch of computer techie types who
set up BBSes and relayed echomail from one system to another.  Then a whole
bunch of less- or non-techie types jumped on the bandwagon, and FidoNet
echomail exploded.  Now that all the low-tech/non-tech folks have jumped to
the Internet, it's just us techie types who are left.  Note that OS2 and
some of the other, similar echoes are still around, while echoes such as
GENEALOGY, which at one time was getting 500 messages per day, are dead, or
almost so.

Oh, I'm not even thinking of gating.  I've considered it, but I figure no
