Subject: Is the TARDIS alive?
When did the Doctor first indicate that the TARDIS is alive?
I just watched the episode Edge of Destruction with the first
Doctor; the whole episode is about a perceived fault in the ship. The
Doctor talks about the power source and we see him repair a spring in
a switch on the control panel. But he never refers to the problem as
the ship dieing nor indicates that it's alive. He does admit that it
might be able to think, but only in terms of being a machine.
I think there was a forth Doctor episode where the Doctor indicates
that the ship is in some sense alvie but I'm not sure.
