Greg, as of yesterday I have removed all bulletins as the system crashes when any new user logs on and those files are displayed. One thing has happened since the probelm showed up. Well two actually. The first is I started using drivespace on my e drive. That lowered my memory left over to 168,984. The other is that I started running 8.04d then e. It could be the lower memory, but the files/bulletins are really very small. Got any ideas? Dane --- RyPacker v2.7 --------------- ** A related thread FOLLOWS this message. Greg --------------- >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> LAST Message In Thread <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<< FIDO MESSAGE AREA==> TOPIC: 256 RYBBS Ref: C4E00000 Date: 04/08/95 From: BILL MITCHELL Time: 04:19pm \/To: GREG RYAN (Co-Sysop)(Rcvd) (Read 5 times) Subj: New Message switch cc: greg@execpc.com Greg, this is something that Bobby Forgione has been asking about for some time, and I would like to second his motion. RyBBS always had the ability (and still does) to search email and other mail, ie. all areas, for new personal messages. You gave us the handy startup.bbs option, QUERY MAIL, but there's a problem with using QUERY MAIL as it works now. This gives the users the ability to skip checking the email areas in addition to the other mail areas. Using QUERY MAIL results in it being very hard to contact users via email. My request, like Bobby's, is to enable in some way that users have to scan the email base for new messages even if QUERY MAIL is on. I have had to resort to a special menu with a special security code to contact a few users. Thanks, Bill --- ---------------* Origin: RyBBS HomeBase `Home of RyBBS!'
