subject: Echo Guidelines

For all of those new to the FILM echo conference and for those who are not
aware of them, here are the guidelines for proper participation in the
FILM echo conference.
We are here for a civilized discussion among friends interested in movies
and all other types of visual entertainment. This can include not only
feature films and shorts prepared for theatrical distribution but also
videos either rented or bought, films seen on network or cable television,
and all other suitable programming on the various networks and cable
channels that users have at their disposal.
We welcome technical discussion on video or VCR topics; however, the main
thrust of this conference is news and views of films and their makers. For
satellite programming, cable-TV regulatory, stereo sound equipment, music,
and sound recording discussions, see their various Fidonet specific
echoes.
As in any Fidonet echo conference, we welcome any discussion that does not
involve name calling, personal attacks, or profanity. Because we want this
echo available to the greatest number of users, please abide by the adage
that this forum is actually someone's home and you are a guest. You should
practice considerate behavior at all times. Users who flagrantly break
echo guidelines and ignore posted warnings by me will be dealt with
through their sysops and may be denied access to this echo through Fidonet
distribution channels.
Sometimes users post off-topic messages. If you see someone doing this,
PLEASE IGNORE IT! I will handle the correction. It costs sysops all across
the country unnecessarily when many messages correcting someone are posted
when one (from me) would have done the job. Think before you post.
It is my pleasure to serve as the echo moderator of FILM, and I look
forward to the fascinating discussions that future postings will no doubt
generate.
Mat Hough, FILM echo moderator.
