There were a couple CME (coronal mass ejections) and
a resulting geomagnetic storm. There was a very brilliant
aurora visible last night from here in central Illinois.

We are just south of 41 deg latitude so auroras are uncommon
here but this one was quite brilliant. I bet it was spectacular
farther north.
