subject: cory disease

ml> i have three corys in a 15 gal tank with 6 or 7 mollys and a pleco...
ml> i noticed, a week or so ago, that one of the corys
ml> dorsal fin seemed to be eaten or broken... damaged
ml> anyway... today, it appears that the same general area
ml> of his back has been eaten... it kinda looks like the
ml> 'hole in the head' disease that was described in here a
 ml> few weeks back...
ml> what do i need to do to clear this up? i have something
ml> called AQUARI-SOL... it says that it is for ICK, Closed
ml> Fin, Body Fungus, Velevt and Sluggishness... 12 drops
 ml> to 10gal... so i'm putting in 18 drops a day... just
ml> started this treatment yesterday or the day before... i
ml> also note that AQUARI-SOL recommends boosting the tank
ml> temp to 85degrees during this treatment... it's been
ml> running at ~76degrees... i've just boosted the tank
ml> temp a bit and will need to see it settle out before
 ml> the next step...
ml> i suppose this cory's condition could be caused by a fungus but...
ml> i do add some ACT at least once each week or two... and also some
BIOZYME
ml> every once in a while... last week or so, there was
ml> also a "bloom" of cloudiness but i feel that that was
ml> from too much of another type of food pellets being put
ml> in... the water got a reddish tint and the food was red
ml> also... after adding some ACT and BIOZYME, the
ml> cloudiness cleared up after two or three days... this
ml> is an established tank... been running fine for two
 ml> months or so...
ml> thoughts?? ideas? are the others residents of this tank
ml> in danger? i'm glad it's not my oscar tank...

You should be careful putting so many medications and such in at the same
time,it will stress the other fish. Is the affected area on the cory pale or
darker? does it look like a scrape or something like that? are there scales
missing? If yes to any of these questions isolate the cory AT ONCE!!
What breed is your cory?
answer these questions and i might be able to figure it out.
How many tanks do you have? what kinds of fish? How long have you been into
fishkeeping?
reply quickly and we might be able to solve your problem.
