The red flag is out on the Nextel Cup series race at Martinsville,
Virginia. At lap 279 of 500, a chunk of concrete dislodged from the track
surface and slammed into the No. 24 Chevy of Jeff Gordon, who was running
second at the time of the impact.

The concrete chunk created a good sized pot hole in the race track, forcing
NASCAR to halt the event. Track workers used an epoxy substance to fill the
hole, and they are currently waiting for it to dry before the race can
resume.
