I'll go with that argument for the Science Fiction show.  The Westerns 
program was more about the shows themselves.  The issue I'm having with 
the whole Pioneers of Television series is that there doesn't seem to be 
a consistent point of view or an adequate explanation of the point of 
view for a particular genre.  In some genres, it's the show 
creators/runners who we identify with; in others, it's the show itself 
(can you tell me who created Gunsmoke or Bonanza?  Did you know that Sam 
Peckinpah created The Rifleman?  I sure as heck didn't).

As I said earlier, I agree that Outer Limits wouldn't qualify based on 
the criteria used for the creation of this particular review of science 
fiction on TV; I just thought it was odd that it didn't even get a name 
check as a precursor.
