musical instruments have signatures that could probably be spotted using
fourier analysis and a bunch of simultaneous equtions.

but you probably wouldn't be able to go down to the individual instrument,
maybe only to the group of instuments,  Violin, tuba, oboe etc...
or it mught be wors only to the class, string, brass, woodwind etc.
