I think you're dangerously close to the truth.
 
A more and more larger portion of the US youth in the Red states is
home-schooled, most belong to religious groups such as the LDS and other groups
and as such become a state inside the state. They have not had the opportunity
to learn to think for themselves but were trained to do as their religious
leaders and/or parents. Examples exist in the Z1-portion of the nodelist.
