Yes, Sarah
SN> Am I the only one left here? I haven't seen any
SN> traffic since Uwe Wolfram announced his departure back
SN> in August.
And I have the Email for the other issue received as well. Problem is that
the entire operation here is in two sets of relay racks spread out over 17
miles of ground space. Virtually everything normally used is in relay rack
Integreand Research linear pig iron power supply case - indrustrial UPS
game, and in the case of the in-town master IP broadband hosted site, a
complete separated OS/2 networked hardware routed game and the works all
run through a Rose Switch KVM setup. That plus RF gateway stuff to the
other site an a heck of a lot more rack mount stuff out at the transmitter
site for the ham station. Which is also Fido interfaced as well...
All the FidoNet stuff in town is in a separate relay rack box, networked to
everything else. But all the Internet stuff for the other would be in a
complete separate development system. For security and other reasons, I
don't mix the two .. except via the private address stuff behind the
broadband router and hardware firewall here..
Actually, it would be a neat way to run an Internat Gateway for Fido
here, but there just isn't enough time for the learning curve although all
the software, hardware, and the fixed addresses with the IP are all in
place.
I'm sad to see the Aviation Echo as dead as it is as well.
But there just isn't time to work both the Fido game and a cross-purpose
issue to it at the same time here. That plus the issue of fooling with yet
another issue between the BBS rack box and the separated rack box for the
UseNet stuff. Heck, it is taking me an hour a day just to keep up with the
traffic in the UseNet game, plus ... a LOT of time spent of late in just
helping debug NORMAN's 5.4.20 version on the UseNet side of things which
has been a mess for the last two months with things. That, plus the main
reason I stay here is to do my best to keep Fido active, even if it's still
small and pitimuss in some areas.
I actually have asked two questions here a while back, one about the
operational characteristics of the current US remote pilotless drone
intelligence and combat aircraft now actively in use in the Middle East...
That one produced no responses...
So I really don't know the answer to what to do. In fact, there are things
that I'd like to ask, and things that I have on the IP side for photo's and
so on which are related to here.
But at the same time I look at the work Marc Lewis is now going through to
gateway the entire OS/2 newsgroup package to Fido down in New Orleans! And
I still think .. perhaps of pride in him and us and all that, it might be
more important to bring the IP side of Aviation gatewayed into here, than
the other way around ..
Just a thought, which may not be a correct one..
--> Sleep well; OS/2's still awake! ;)
