BFO Offset display - The BFO Offset is used when tuning into SSB mode.
It can be set from -3000Hz to +3000Hz in 5Hz increments. To change the BFO
offset, you can press Ctrl+B and type in the new BFO offset. You can also
adjust it by using the numeric keypads + and - keys (which can also be
swapped in the General Options dialog box). To quickly set it to zero,
either click on the reset button under the display or press the asterisk
key on the numeric keypad.
Using the mouse, you can click on the up/down buttons to the right of
the BFO offset display, or use the slider button located in between the
up/down buttons.
Sensitivity controls - If a signal is too strong (causing overloading
and distortion), click on the Local button with the mouse, or press the L
key to reduce the sensitivity. For the highest sensitivity, click on the DX
button or press the D key.
Volume control - The volume control, consisting of the volume display
and adjustment buttons on the middle-right side of the panel, controls the
audio volume coming out of the speaker jack on the back of the WinRadio
card. There are several methods to set the volume to a desired level:
From the keyboard, type V and enter the volume number from 0 to 31; or
use the Left and Right arrow keys to decrease and increase the volume
respectively.
Click the mouse in the volume display and enter the number; or use the
up/down buttons to the right of the display. Click on the up arrow to
increase the volume and the down arrow to decrease the volume. Use the
slider button located in between the up/down buttons to quickly set the
volume.
The Mute Control quickly silences the audio output. It's easier than
setting the volume to zero, and doesn't change the actual volume setting.
To use the mute control, simply click on the button, or press Ctrl+U.
Squelch control - is used to mute the audio output when the received
radio signal strength is too low. Squelch is always active, even when
scanning. Squelch only activates if the signal strength remains below the
squelch value for the time specified in the Squelch delay in the General
options dialog box. When the signal strength increases above the squelch
value, audio is immediately restored.
To adjust the squelch control, first tune to a frequency that produces
only noise. Increase the squelch until the green Sqlch light at the bottom
of the panel goes red. You can change it at anytime to suit conditions.
To enter the squelch value, press the Q key and enter a value between 0
and 100. Using the mouse, click on the up/down arrow buttons to the right
of the display, or use the slider button, located in between the up/down
buttons, to quickly set the squelch.
Power switch - The power switch, located at the bottom-right corner of
the panel, labelled On/Off controls the radio receivers power. When the
receiver is off, all controls are disabled (except the power switch). From
the keyboard, Ctrl+O switches power on & off.
