That mailing's in my file 13! A lot of people do
have the "black box" attitude about their cars - step
on the gas and it goes, step on the brake and it stops.
The steering wheel equates to the mouse!
I am not and have never been an auto mechanic -
nor cared to be. 50+ years ago I worked in my dad's gas
station and I understood a bit about what was under the
hood. But they have grown so complicated now that
adding windshield washer fluid is the limit of my
expertise. I went car shopping with a lady friend a few
years ago and I remember one car - the wrap-around
dashboard completely intimidated her. She got in the
car, took one look, and got out. Refused to test drive
it. That car reminded me of the Wurletzer (sp?) organ
at the movie theater when I was a kid, with all the
stops and three manuals and a set of pedals. I was
intrigued by both, but I don't blame the lady for
refusing to try the car!
