I'm feeling good. I had read somewhere the reason dogs resist certain procedures isn't so much the procedure itself but they HATE being restrained. Hey who wouldn't? The trick to get them to cooperate is to be gentle, firm and quick. And whisper sweet praise into their ear. Abbie, our ever ready enegizer doggie had let us know she does not like being restrained. Not one bit. And she is one tough pup. Giving her a bath has become a bit easier. And today for the first time ever she let me trim the hair on her face. It does get kinda scruffy and in her eyes eventually. She was playing with her chew stick. I sat down with the small scissors she has already had acquaintance with. I pet her and gently took her by the collar talking to her, and snip! She held back a bit but then I let her sniff the scissors and play with her chew stick some more. Then I pet her head...and got the hair in between her eyes and on her short snout. Quick and tons of praise. I was so happy she let me get the job done! She was such a good girl! :) Cosmo has no qualms about having his face trimmed. I've a feeling Abbie may have had rough handling in her puppy hood before we got her. It takes some work, some patience and being quick to win their trust. It's a really good feeling too! To win their trust. :) cindy ...
