I smoked Camel non-filter cigarettes,  starting at about 12 years old. Stopped
smoking cigarettes in 1983, after just under thirty years of smoking.


Dropped it like a bad dream, and in less than five days I was a non-smoker. No
pills, no patches, no `encounter groups'! Just stopped! It was easier than
everybody always claimed it would be. For the first two or three days it was
hard without a cigarette. After five days I was a non-smoker! Didn't `crave'
it, didn't want it, didn't care about it!


I like to puff on a cigar on occasion, or load and puff on one of my pipes
once in a while (I still have pipe tobacco from the last time I bought pipe
tobacco; 7 years ago!). But I do not inhale tobacco products, and if there
were no more tobacco products on the market starting tomorrow morning, I
wouldn't care! I count myself among the *non* smoking group.


I didn't quit for my health.......I didn't quit in response to any anti-
smoking campaign. I quit because I had tested for brown belt in the martial
arts school I was going to in 1983 (I was about 42 years old at the time), and
I knew if I didn't quit smoking I'd probably never pass the black belt
testing. So it was a choice of what I wanted more.......my cigarettes or my
black belt. To me...there wasn't any real choice involved. Haven't smoked a
cigarette or inhaled any tobacco products since Thanksgiving, 1983, just about
26 years ago!
