You really need to read what they wrote.  Black skin is a sign that 
they sinned in the pre-existance, thus making them unworthy.  
Note that blacks were forbidden from the priesthood.  As such, they 
could only be servants to the elect in the afterlife.  

No matter how tou cut it, Mormonism is steeped in rascism.  

What they are doinf now is to clean up their act.   Though commendable, 
it brings into question why their "perfect book", a book more perfect 
than the NT, is so hateful of groups of people.  After all, it was 
penned in the 1820s or so, when many churches were preaching out 
against slavery.
