-> If it is not ok for people of faith to foist their beliefs onto others whom do -> not share them, why is it ok for people of non-faith to do it? Good question! I think it's probably a desire to buttress one's own opinions. I believe that if a few hundred million people joined my Church of Variable Likelihood the world would be be far better off. As with other founders of religions you really have to die before things take off. I'm in no hurry. It takes quite a while before scientific truths become common-place. It'll be a while before aspects of quantum mechanics, namely entanglement and non-locality butt heads with theological ontology. A bummer when your greatness has to be deferred - I want to be acclaimed by the world --NOW! :-) More to your point: having faith involves a personal commitment and acceptance of a responsibility considered abhorrent makes atheists desire confirmation of their refusal to 'enter in'. Part of their success is due to obvious failures of some leaders to 'walk the walk' or preach rationally...Whadda you think? --- Platinum Xpress/Win/WINServer v3.0pr5* Origin: Doc's Place BBS Fido Since 1991 docsplace.tzo.com (1:123/140) SEEN-BY: 10/1 3 14/250 34/999 120/228 123/500 128/2 140/1 222/2 226/0 249/303 SEEN-BY: 250/306 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1418 266/1413 280/1027 320/119 SEEN-BY: 396/45 633/260 267 690/734 712/848 800/432 801/161 189 2222/700 SEEN-BY: 2320/100 105 2905/0 @PATH: 123/140 500 261/38 633/260 267 |
