It was good in terms of intensity & we did some good stuff. Numerous things about that matches kept it from being as good as it was hyped up to be. The lack of either of us actually trying to "win" the match. Actually Sabu atleast tried a pin attempt with an arabian press, but I'm pretty sure I made none. The tempo or flow of the match was quite like a race to the end of the match. I appreciate having one of my matches being remembered so fondly & people enjoyed it that much at the time, but I feel like the second match I had with Sabu 10 years later was a great match. For the both of us, our better days were supposedly behind us at the time. It's understandable that people were thinking that, even though it wasn't the case, due to the "internet wrestling community's" contempt for me at the time & My lack of inspiration in recent years. The truth is I had seen better days in terms of quality of work, but only until I had that 1st match back with Sabu in Philly. Then I knew I loved wrestling still. I had another decent match with Sabu again, although I could barely walk to the ring & the match suffered because of it. I really shouldn't have even gone, but after Sabu gave me that great match & put me over clean in the middle (in Philly) I was determined to be able to do my best to return the favor. I had 2 matches with AJ Styles in TNA that I considered great matches. They were "main event" style matches. The first one being completely called in the ring. The one we did on the fly like that was the best of the two. I was proud of still being able to perform at that level after all that I had been through over the years. So the thing is that Better days are still ahead as soon as I decide they will be. When I decide something , there isn't much that can get in the way of me doing it. With that said , I have decided that I very much want to find myself in the middle of a ring, in the middle of several hundred or several thousand wrestling fans, and making them feel like they are watching something special. The people are what truly make it special & it feels just as good in Philly at the ECW arena as it does in Philly at the Core States Spectrum or whatever they call the big arenas there now. I was treated with such class by the fans in Philly that were supposed to be so tough & synical, I will never forget that. If you would have asked anyone before that how they would react to me, I am pretty sure that it wouldn't have been the way they did. --- Internet Rex 2.29* Origin: The gateway at Swills (1:555/5555) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 555/5555 229/3000 123/500 106/2000 633/267 |
