Hi Wendy,
WB> Hi Lovely Lily Lady!
WB> I was thinking of you when using my sewing machine and thought
WB> you might get a laugh and a half out of my predicament. So,
Seems the machine has a temperament of its' own, right?
WB> My dear hubby came home from work the first week of December
WB> with a request for a stocking he could hang outside his work
WB> cube and people sneak over when you leave for a conference or
WB> to go to the bathroom or get a soft drink, and stick some sort
WB> of little treat or something in your stocking. So, he didn't
WB> have one and needed one. I struggled with a pattern and got to
Knowing the way I operate, I would have just cut something out free
hand, sometimes those patterns are more bother than they'reworth.
WB> my machine...and made him one. It wasn't perfect but he loved
WB> it because I made it.
Of course; Steve loved the vest & tie I did for him using the computer
bug fabric I found in the Keepsake catalog. He had no idea that the
fabric I bought the day after Thanksgiving was for a Christmas project
for him. (G)
WB> one of the guys whose wife just won't do a thing for him, and
WB> won't even let the guy go shopping on the way home from work.
WB> He has to report home immediately after work and if he has to
Whew! Sounds like she's extremely insecure.
WB> or 4 yards of it stuck in there!), cleaned the bobbin case and
WB> bobbin, and started to sew again. Same problem...the machine
WB> would go about half an inch then stop. I was getting pretty
WB> upset by this time and was just about to open the window by the
WB> sewing table and chuck it outside in the rain, you know? hehe,
That's about the time I walk away from the machine, clear my head for a
few hours and come back to it. Saves getting the urge to pitch the
machine.
WB> with something else to do...right in the heart of Christmas
WB> crafting season! GRRRRRR!
Of course! I did a jacket zipper replacement the day before Christmas;
could have used the time otherwise but with the weather turning cold and
snowy, it was well worth it.
WB> bit, and then went back to ask the Lord what the problem was. And
WB> I got a clear message to check the way the machine was threaded on
WB> top. I said "Look Lord, the problem is where the bobbin is, not on
WB> top!" Isn't that typical of a stubborn woman? So He told me,
Yep, and you know, He's never wrong.
WB> the thread had popped out of the tension control area up top, plus
WB> out of the take-up too! Don't know how that happened but I fixed it
WB> and you guessed it--machine worked perfectly with no screw ups after
Of course.
WB> And you better believe I thanked the Lord for being so patient with
WB> me and my horrible temper, too. But I sure got a laugh out of it,
He probably did too; you know He's got a sense of humor.
WB> I also found, while working on that stocking, the manual to my sewing
WB> machine, which had been misplaced since last July or August. So I got
WB> a huge blessing from making that stocking!
I'm glad everything worked out. Deborah (our younger daughter) had
Christmas in Edmund; after all herfussing about needing snow clothes,
they didn't have any of the white stuff and we did.
WB> ... Every time I go near my sewing machine, it laughs at me!
I think mine says "Again? Can't you leave me alone?" (G)
Catch you later,
Ruth
